Welcome to NEIFF 2024, a competitive Feature Film Festival exclusively celebrating the cinematic excellence of North East Indian Films from the captivating states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

To be eligible for consideration, all films must meet the following requirements:

1. The film should be original feature film in a language of North East India (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura) certified by the Central Board of Film Certification, India.

2. Only feature films that have been produced during the period from 1st January 2023 to 31st December 2023 (i.e. certified by the CBFC during the calendar year 2023) are eligible. Films in tribal dialects lacking CBFC certification are welcome to submit to the festival and it's important to note that while these submissions will be accepted, they will not be considered for the "In Competition Section" of the festival.

3. Duration of the Films should be between 72 minutes to 180 minutes.

4. All Films must carry English subtitles.

5. Only the Producer or the Director of the Film can submit the application.

6. Duly filled in application along with the following should be sent by email:

• CBFC Certificate Copy (exempted for Tribal dialect films)

• Link to be provided for Full Film in HD uploaded at Google Drive, Vimeo, Send gb, etc.

• Synopsis of Film in English (200-300 words)

• 5 captioned horizontal format stills from the film (300 dpi)

• Bio-note (continuous text) and filmography of the Director(s) and Producer(s) with profile pictures.

• Principal Cast and crew list.

FEES

With due consideration of the numerous appeals from the filmmaking community and with a dedication to fostering the cinematic arts of North East India, the NEIFF has chosen to waive the fee for film entry applications.

SELECTION OF FILMS

• All submitted films will be previewed and rated by a panel of jury. The jury will select the films that will be screened at the festival as:

  • In Competition Section

  • Official Screening Section

• All films selected for the festival is not running in competition automatically.

• Decision of the Jury will be the final to shortlist the movie and will be confidential. Decision of Jury cannot be challenged.

• Films selected in the above categories should arrange to submit the following physically or uploaded online before 24th Feb 2024:

  • Full films in Unencrypted DCP Format or Blue Ray Quality.

  • Poster of the Film (300 dpi)

  • HD Trailer Cut of the Film

  • Press Kit

• Films selected for “In Competition Section” should also submit Brief Bio-note & Profile Pictures (300 dpi) of Screenplay(s), Editor(s), Cinematographer(s), Sound/Audiographer(s) by 24th February 2024.

 

N.B. For those filmmakers who have the capability to submit their film in DCP format during the entry form completion, rest assured that the submitted version will be treated as the final submission.

AWARDS

The North East India Film Festival (NEIFF) 2024 is set to bestow an array of prestigious awards, recognizing and celebrating excellence in the cinematic realm. The coveted awards include:

• Best Film - Rs. 1,20,000/-

• Best Director - Rs. 50,000/-

• Best Screenplay - Rs. 40,000/-

• Best Cinematography - Rs. 40,000/-

• Best Editing - Rs. 40,000/-

• Best Sound - Rs. 40,000/-

• The Jury Award - Rs. 30,000/-

Additionally, a distinctive Special Mention Award will be presented. It's worth noting that each of these accolades not only carries the motivating monetary reward but also includes a statuette, a citation, and the traditional lengyan. NEIFF 2024 honors excellence in the truest sense, celebrating the brilliance and dedication of filmmakers in North East India.

 

FESTIVAL ATTENDANCE

The inclusion of films in our selection process should not be misconstrued as an undertaking by NEIFF organizers to cover travel and accommodation expenses for filmmakers or producers. However, for films selected under the esteemed "In Competition Section," NEIFF 2024 extends a gracious offer of round-trip tickets from the nearest airport to Imphal, along with comprehensive arrangements for accommodation and meals throughout the festival days for upto 2 representatives.

In the event that your film secures a spot, our team will reach out to you well in advance of the official press conference scheduled for February 20, 2024. The NEIFF 2024 Directorate will ensure that all essential information reaches you promptly, streamlining the process for selected films and enhancing your overall festival experience.
